Description: The FOCN (Farmers of Color Network) Membership Coordinator will primarily focus on member engagement, supporting administrative and programmatic needs of the network which will contribute to implementation of the program’s work plan. This position will also work closely with the Direct Service Team and ensure coordination of work across programs.

 

Essential Responsibilities:

 

  • Farmers of Color Network project management (60%) 

    • Lead FOCN member management by processing intakes and inquiries, maintaining accurate records, making internal program referrals and supporting farmers through obtaining appropriate technical assistance support from other RAFI programs. 

    • Track over time the needs and trends of FOCN membership. 

    • Complete reporting FOCN program activities, outcomes and impacts in a timely manner.

    • Organize weekly FOCN staff check-ins, which includes agenda creation, project tracking, and deliverable accountability.

    • Act as primary point of contact for FOCN inquiries via email, calls, and in-person events and serve as FOCN representation  at partner meetings, conferences, etc. 

    • Collaborate with the Resources for Resilient Farm program teams on deliverables, outreach, and referrals for farmer participants.

    • Work with Farm Services Director to ensure program evaluation tools accurately track program impact data. Capture farmer data and demographics for reporting on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis. Complete quarterly board reports and contribute to annual reports. 

    • Collaborate with supervisor to develop work plans that reflect timely completion of grant deliverables and requirements. 

  • Farmer Outreach and programming (40%) 

    • Coordinate member programming workflow for the network, including organizing and coordinating workshops, member gatherings, and other farmer serving projects as needed in coordination with Resources for Resilient Farms program team. Ensure member programming adheres to funding and other requirements. 

    • Develop and maintain relationships with farmers and partners to help identify best practices and areas for collaborations that will enhance program work.

    • Review membership benefits for farmers of color and make recommendations to supervisor based on observations and assess of impact/value to farmers. 

    • Attend conferences and other events to meet farmers and conduct outreach about network programming and benefits. 

 

Required skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

  • Active listener and learner. Self-starter: can take initiative both on projects and work plans, and seek information independently

  • Experience with data entry, data reporting,  and working with a CRM- proficiency in Salesforce preferred 

  • Authentic commitment to the mission of RAFI: to challenge the root causes of unjust food systems, supporting and advocating for economically, racially, and ecologically just farm communities

  • Ability to coordinate multiple activities/deliverables and timelines 

  • Success working collaboratively with staff and community stakeholders 

  • Knowledgeable in  G-Suite systems 

 

Desired skills, knowledge, and abilities

  • Curiosity, intellectual engagement, and an active interest in continual learning

  • Experience working in Spanish speaking communities

  • Strong written and oral communication skills

 

Compensation: Full-time salaried, exempt position. Annual salary of $59,116.00 based on 40 hours/week. Generous benefits package includes paid time off, 401k, medical, dental, life insurance, and long/short-term disability insurance plans. 

 

Location: This is a remote position with the option to work at our office in the Triangle area of NC as desired. Applicants must be located in NC, VA, MS, or PR.
