Location: The ideal candidate will be located within a 2 hour drive of Rocky Mount, NC.

 

Overview:

 

RAFI founded the Farmers of Color Network (FOCN) in 2017 to support these farmers and grow their numbers. The Network provides farmer-led technical assistance and funding opportunities, and hosts farm tours, networking events, and gatherings to highlight ancestral traditions and knowledge, as well as explore market solutions. Currently, the program serves farmers of color in the Southeast U.S., lower mid-Atlantic, U.S. Virgin Islands, and Puerto Rico.

 

The 2024 FOCN mini-conference intern will assist with planning an October mini-conference for members of the Farmers of Color Network in eastern North Carolina. The mini-conference will bring together members for shared learning opportunities and community building. The intern will work with FOCN staff to prepare, implement, and evaluate the event.   This role is a contract position.

 

Role Responsibilities:

  • Contact presenters to confirm attendance, collect speaker agreements/bio/picture

  • Prepare conference printed materials

  • Support travel arrangements 

  • Support vendor logistics

  • Week of conference: help with set up, registration, exhibitor booth, evaluation collection, general troubleshooting

  • Collect evaluation materials from conference and assist with event close-out
